Crews from the Department of Transportation are working to repair damage to the left lane of the H-1 freeway near Radford Drive. Earlier this afternoon, DOT officials reported the portion of the road had a large hole in it, about one-foot deep and one-foot wide in diameter, posing a threat to passing motorists. The damage was also preventing the ZipMobile from passing. The damage is believed to be weather- related. As a result of the damages and repair work, DOT crews closed the far left-lane of the H-1 freeway for about a 3.5 mile stretch from Radford Drive to the Nimitz Highway.

Contractos were using fast-curing concrete, and anticipate reopening the section of road at around 5:15 p.m. Motorists are advised to expect heavy traffic congestion in the airport viaduct area throughout the day. Drivers are asked to consider alternate routes such as the Moanalua Freeway and Kamehameha Highway, under the airport viaduct.
