COUNTY OFFICES TO CLOSE IN OBSERVANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY

County offices on Maui are closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  Closures in effect today include the Hana, Molokai and Lanai Landfills.  Trash collection will follow a normal schedule except on Lanai, where customers with scheduled Monday pickups will receive service on Tuesday instead.  All county pools and the Waiehu Golf Course are open for normal hours.

MAUI PEACE ACTION TO HOLD MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. MARCH

The Maui Peace Action teams up with the African American Heritage Foundation to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day today with a peaceful march down Kaahumanu Avenue.  The march begins at 11 a.m. at the entrance to Maui Community College and ends at Hoaloha Park.  Festivities include music, speakers, and a light lunch with a focus on community celebration, justice and peace.  Participants are invited to bring a canned good to donate to the Maui Food Bank.
