A motorcyclist suffered fatal injuries in a morning accident on the Hana Highway.  Maui Police say 21-year-old Jonathan Davis of Kahului died at the scene.  Davis was operating a 2001 Suzuki GSX-R600 and traveling east on the Hana Highway (in the Paia-bound direction) at around 6:50 a.m. when he collided with a 2006 Jeep Commander that was making a left turn onto Wakea Avenue from the Hana Highway.  The driver of the Jeep was not injured, however the vehicle was towed from the scene.  Authorities say Davis was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.  The accident is Maui’s 1st traffic fatality this year.  The accident resulted in a road closure that lasted about three hours and blocked traffic on the Hana Highway between Kamehameha and Hanakai; and on Wakea Avenue between Hana Highway and Alamaha Street. The road was reopened shortly after 10 a.m.  The accident remains under investigation.  (Updated:  4:15 p.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2009)
