SMALL EARTHQUAKE FELT OFF BIG ISLAND

A small earthquake was recorded off the Kona Coast of the Big Island at around 9:20 this morning. Preliminary estimates from the State authorities place the magnitude at 3.5; while the US Geological Survey has reported the event as a 3.3 magnitude. The depth of the quake was at 23 miles below the surface and about 14 miles WSW from the Kahaluu-Keauhou region of the Big Island. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issued an evaluation saying NO tsunami is expected. Repeat. No Tsunami is expected.
