Governor Linda Lingle is resting following a minor surgical biopsy this morning. In November of 2002, the governor underwent a similar breast biopsy, which tested negative for breast cancer. Results of today’s procedure are due out in the middle of next week. Governor Lingle continues to emphasize the importance of breast cancer prevention and early detection. “Everything went well and as expected,” said Dr. Nakashizuka, who conducted the procedure this morning using a light anesthetic and needle localization. The governor was released from the hospital at 11:30 a.m. and was resting at home comfortably. She is expected to return the office on Monday.
