Lahaina Man Dies in Early Morning Crash

A Maui man suffered fatal injuries in a single car crash in West Maui early this morning.  19-year-old Edyngton Naki Jr. of Lahaina died at the scene of the accident as a result on injuries sustained in the crash.

The accident was reported at 2:19 a.m. on Wainee Street.  Authorities say the man was traveling north when he lost control of the 2002 Lincoln sedan he was driving, and collided into a tree.  The driver was pinned within his vehicle as the car caught fire, according to police reports.

The accident was the 20^th motor vehicle fatality in Maui County this year.  The use of a seatbelt and other factors remain under investigation.
