Lane closures will be adjusted during the initial phase of a road improvement project on Kamehameha Avenue because of a 12” water main that was broken during construction.

All four east- and west-bound lanes of Kamehameha Avenue between Alamaha and Hoohana streets will be closed temporarily; however, access is expected to remain available to all area businesses.

The east-bound lanes will be closed until construction issues related to the broken water main are resolved.  County officials say an updated timetable of scheduled lane closures will be released after a thorough examination of the affected area is completed.

Road work on the 4-month $1.36 million project began on Sunday and is expected to conclude in mid-August. The project involves reconstructing Kamehameha Avenue between Puunene Avenue and Hana Highway.
