Governor to announce list of potential vetoes
Governor Lingle will announce today a list of bills she is considering for veto. Today is the deadline to notify the legislature of potential vetoes, but the cut off date to take action is July 6th.
Earlier this month, the Governor said she would likely take the full time allowed to consider the future of the contentious civil unions bill. House Bill 444 would allow same-sex couples to receive the same rights, benefits and responsibilities of legally married couples.
The governor just returned from a trade mission to China and Japan. She called the trip successful in its efforts to promote Hawai‘i’s tourism, trade, clean energy, and educational opportunities.
