The monthly First Friday event in Wailuku Town takes place tonight (Friday, July 2, 2010) from 5:30 to 8 p.m. featuring a Maui Thing Fashion Show and Willie K performing live.  There will also be an ‘awa bar and fried fish plate for sale at Native Intelligence, live music by Gene and Shea Arge fronting Café o lei, the Pam Petersen Band performing beneath the Banyan Tree, and the Grand Opening of Wailuku Coffee Co.  Vocalist Sheryl Renee & The Hand Jive Trio will also be performing at 8 p.m. with proceeds benefiting the Arts Education for Children Group.  And at Gallerie Ha, there’s a poetry slam at 8 p.m. with a $20 cash prize for the winner.

Wailuku town has that funky, friendly small town charm so familiar to generations of Mauians. And now, with the Wailuku Revitalization Project in full swing, Market Street has taken on a brand new vibe… The result is a one-of-a-kind blend of old and new that has residents and visitors flocking down to shop, dine, groove with the live bands or take part in the wonderfully raucous street festivities every first Friday of the month. Come down for a great time and help support the local community and businesses!
