Council Candidates from the Makawao-Haiku-Paia district discussed how they would address the Upcounty Water Meter Waiting List during a candidate forum at the University of Hawaii Maui College Campus on Monday.  The council candidate forum was hosted by the Kahului Rotary Club and featured 10 candidates running in six Council races.

The vacancy in the Makawao-Haiku-Paia Council district is being created by the departure of Council Member Mike Molina who reaches his term limit this year.  Running to fill his seat are Kai Nishiki and Mike White.  During the Primary Election, held in September, Mike White earned the most votes with 10,150 votes, or 35.2% of the vote.  Fellow candidate Kai Nishiki placed second with 6,805 votes or 23.6% of the vote.  The two face each other again on November 2nd in the General Election.
