Visitor critically injured in Motorcycle accident on Haleakala Crater Road, Maui

A visitor was critically incurred while operating a rented motorcycle on Haleakala Crater Road on Maui yesterday.  The 63-year-old man from Tuolomne, California suffered critical life threatening injuries during the crash.  Maui Police say he was wearing a helmet a the time of the crash.  He was driving the Harley motorcycle east or downhill at around 3:25 p.m. when it left the roadway and collided into a rock retaining wall.  The man was ejected from the vehicle and fell down an embankment.  The man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center where he remains confined for treatment of his injuries.
