Strong easterly winds are expected to continue over Maui County until tonight.  The National Weather Service says east winds of 25 to 40 mph are expected with gusts up to 50 mph for Lanai, Kahoolawe and Maui.

Winds will be especially strong where trades are accelerated by terrain.  The windy weather is generated by a strong high far north of the state.  The winds are expected to ease tomorrow.

Meantime, a Wind Advisory that was in effect for the Summit of Haleakala has since been cancelled.
