Suspect Sought in Cash Register Theft at Molokai Drive-In

An investigation has been launched following the theft of a cash register at the Molokai Drive-In Tuesday night.

The incident was reported at approximately 7:30 p.m. on December 28, 2010 when an unknown male walked up to the business and removed the cash register from the establishment’s open counter window.

While fleeing the area, police say the man attempted to hide the cash register within the brush of an open lot across the street.

Maui Police Lt. Wayne Ibarra said the cash register and all money within it were recovered during a check of the area.  Police say the cash register was covered with a hooded sweater and t-shirt believed to be worn by the responsible person.

The suspect is described as approximately 5’10” to 6’ tall. There are no other descriptions available for the suspect at this time.
