New Director announced at Makena Tennis Club

Frank Salvador was appointed as the new director of the Tennis Club at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort, formerly the Maui Prince Hotel. Salvador comes to the south side after spending 10 years as the director of the tennis program at the Hyatt Regency Resort & Spa in Kaanapali.

In his new capacity, Salvador will be responsible for Makena’s overall tennis program, including coordination and instruction of club activities and events, as well as overseeing maintenance of the club facilities and pro shop.

“We are happy to welcome Frank Salvador to the Makena ohana,” said Shawn Sweeney, Senior Vice President and General Manager at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort.

New developments at the facility also include plans to resurface the existing six plexipave courts.

Salvador’s plans for the tennis program include a variety of USTA league events and tournaments throughout the year. He also plans to institute membership options for both local residents and visitors.

The Makena Tennis Club recently received the 2010 Bronze Medal by Tennis Resort Online for ranking in the top 75 tennis clubs in the United States based on overall tennis experience and quality of lodging, children’s programs and value.

Services include: private lessons, clinics, tournaments and USTA league and themed events throughout the year.
