Weather and Popularity Contributing Factors to Kihei Bus Delays
By Wendy Osher
County officials are citing popularity and weather as contributing factors to reported delays on the Kihei Island Bus Route that serves South Maui.
Officials with the County’s Department of Transportation say they are working to resolve the problems that have plagued the route by modifying the schedule.
Department officials say that while some of the delays may be due to weather related clean-up in the area, heavy ridership and popularity of the $2 daily passes, may also be adding to the late arrivals.
“We are truly sorry for the inconvenience to the public and ask for their patience and understanding while these delay problems are being addressed,” said Maui DOT Director Jo Anne Johnson.
“We hope that it can be resolved quickly and with a minimum of inconvenience to our loyal riders,” said Johnson.
