University of Hawaii Maui College recently announced the appointment of Brian Moto to the position of Special Assistant to the Chancellor position.

Filling the position recently vacated by Herman Andaya, Mr. Moto most recently served as Corporation Counsel, the County of Maui’s chief legal advisor and legal representative, for eight years, and as a deputy corporation counsel for ten years. 

He was previously employed by the law firm Thacher Proffitt & Wood, New York, and by the accounting firm Arthur Andersen & Co., New York.

Mr. Moto is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School (J.D.), Yale Divinity School (M.A. Religion), and the University of Hawaii (B.B.A. Accounting).  He is a member of the Hawaii and New York bars. 

Born and reared on Maui, Brian currently resides in Pukalani. He will be assisting with the range of UHMC educational initiatives related to institutional, county, state, federal as well as private sector matters.
