Maui County Plans Workforce Wellness Fair for April 7

By Mayor Alan Arakawa has proclaimed the week of April 3-9 Workplace Wellness Week on Maui. In conjunction with this proclamation Maui County, along with the State Department of Health and Maui County Nutrition and Physical Activity Coalition will co-sponsor a Workplace Wellness Fair on April 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kalana O Maui Building.
“The Wellness Fair will offer our employees and public at large an opportunity to learn how to combat fatigue, manage stress and receive information on how to create or support a healthier workforce,” said Arakawa.
Attendees will receive tips from health experts on how to stay healthy and fit in the workplace. Community members with health information to share will be there sharing information about diet and nutrition, ergonomics, exercise incentives, health education and screening as well as stress management.
Studies have shown that offering a comprehensive Workplace Wellness Programs reduce sick leave, lower medical costs and even lower medical and work’s compensation claims. Other positive results from Workplace Wellness programs include reducing absenteeism, lowering healthcare expenditures, decreasing turnover and increasing productivity.
