Kansas City Royals off to Surprisingly Good Start

Kansas City has long been regarded as the weak link in the American League Central.

But the Royals are off to one of their best starts in years, improving their record to 4-1 yesterday with a 7-6 win over the Chicago White Sox.

Kanekoa Texeira worked 1.1 innings out of the bullpen for the Royals, allowing two hits and walking one in his second appearance of the young season.

It was not a good day for Shane Victorino or his Phillies. Both struggled at the plate in a 7-1 loss to the New York Mets.

Victorino went 0-for-5 and the four Mets pitchers scattered seven hits as the Phils suffered their first loss of the season following a 3-1 start. Philly lefty Cole Hamels didn’t make it out of the third inning, giving up six runs. Shane is 2-for-13 for the season.

Kurt Suzuki’s Oakland Athletics fell to 1-4 with a tough 7-6 road loss to Toronto in 10 innings. Suzuki went 1-for-4 in the game.

Fans in Boston realize that the season has barely begun. But that isn’t stopping the more rabid among them from panicking as their highly-touted team is off to an 0-4 start following a 3-1 loss at Cleveland.

Texas, Cincinnati and surprising Baltimore are baseball’s only three remaining unbeaten teams. The Red Sox join Houston as the only teams still seeking their first victory.
