The Verizon Wireless Communications Store in Kahului is one of 41 Verizon Wireless retail stores nationwide to recently receive the prestigious Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the United States Green Building Council.

Located at 270 Dairy Road, Verizon Wireless Kahului is now part of a network of stores that have met the nationally accepted benchmark for design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings set by the LEED Green Building Rating System.

LEED requirements included optimizing water and energy use, enhancing indoor environmental quality and reducing waste through specifications and responsible procurement and construction practices.

Other LEED certified construction practices put in place at Verizon Wireless Kahului included ENERGY STAR equipment, efficient lighting, efficient HVAC systems, energy management and monitoring systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures, environmentally friendly finishes, recycled content products and construction and operating waste reduction.
