Maui Council Team Wins Food Drive Competition

Members of the Maui County Council and Office of Council Services raised $1,700 in cash and collected 23 pounds of food for the County’s 2011 Food Drive.

As the team with the greatest contribution, they were awarded a perpetual plaque for their efforts.

The food drive collected a total of 1,500 pounds of food and more than $2,400 dollars in cash, which was donated ot the Maui Food Bank.

The food drive was initiated by Maui Mayor Alan Arakawa and Council Chair Danny Mateo.  It included a call to various departments to help collect food to feed the hungry on Maui.

The Spring 2011 Food Drive ran six weeks, starting on March 1, and concluding on April 8, 2011.
