Hana Utility Pole Replacement Project – Phase 2

Maui Electric Company (MECO) continues work on a four-week project to replace select utility poles providing essential service to East Maui customers.

The project began with Phase 1 on Tuesday, May 10th, that included work from Mile Marker 3 near Kaeleku to mile marker 18, East of Ke’anae, past Wailua Road.

Phase 2 of the project begins on Tuesday, May 17, 2011,and includes work from Punaiwa Road in Haiku to Kaeleku in Hana near mile marker 31.  The work will result in a temporary interruption of electrical service.  Work hours are from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and will not affect traffic on the Hana Highway.

The pole replacement project is aimed at improving electrical service for East Maui customers.

MECO officials apologized for any inconvenience caused by service interruption and expressed appreciation to the public for their patience as work is done to improve electrical service to the East Maui community.
