Parts of Lahaina remain without water as crews from the County Department of Water Supply work on repairs to a 12-inch main break on Front Street. Customers affected include those at the Lahaina Cannery Mall, Aloha Mixed Plate, and the surrounding area.

Jacky Takakura, the Administrative Officer at the Maui Department of Water Supply said water should be restored to affected customers by noon today.

The break was first reported Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Kapunakea and Front Street.

Water crews had initially planned to conduct repairs yesterday afternoon, but too many businesses would have been affected, including the Lahaina Cannery Mall and the Old Lahaina Luau, which had 500 people registered to attend last night’s show.

Water crews isolated the valves in the line to temporarily maintain service yesterday afternoon and evening. Crews returned to work at 11 p.m. Tuesday, and continue work this morning to repair the main line.
