Mothers Against Drunk Driving will honor Outstanding police on Maui today for their contributions in the fight against underage drinking and drunk driving. The MADD awards will recognize Maui police for the lives they saved in 2010 by identifying intoxicated motorists and getting them off the road. Statistics show that more than half of all Hawaii traffic fatalities involve alcohol.

The event will also honor individuals in the local community for demonstrating leadership and commitment to MADD’s mission of preventing underage drinking, stopping drunk driving, and supporting victims of this violent crime.

The awards luncheon is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Café O’Lei.  The event is sponsored in part by Maui Toyota and is limited to 50 guests. For reservations, e-mail [email protected] or call (808) 532-6232.
