High Surf for South Shores until 6 p.m. 6/6/11
By Wendy Osher
The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory until 6 p.m. for the south facing shores of the Hawaiian Islands.
Surf is expected to be in the 6 to 8 foot range today, with surf remaining near, but below advisory levels into Tuesday.
The high surf will result in breaking waves along exposed beaches and reefs. High surf conditions can also produce rip currents.
Novice swimmers are advised to stay out of the water in affected areas. Beach goers should exercise caution near shore, especially at the entrances to the smaller channels and harbors.
