Memorial Services Set For Maui Girl Sophia DeLoria

Funeral services have been set this week for 8-year-old Sophia “Sophie” Mae Deloria.  The Maui girl suffered fatal injuries in a rock-slide at the Pipiwai Trail in Kipahulu on May 31st.

Services will be held on Friday morning, June 10 at the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church in Lahiana, with visitation at 9 a.m. and services at 10 a.m.  Close family and friends will then scatter ashes at sea during a private sunset gathering at North Beach.  In lieu of flowers, lei are welcome.

Ballard Family Mortuary released an obituary that notes DeLoria is survived by her parents, Susan and Francis “JD” DeLoria; Grandparents, Derek and El Robb, and Frank DeLoria; Aunt, Jillian (Steve) Haggerty; Cousins, Tom and James Haggerty; Uncle, Douglas (Lucinda) Robb; Cousins, Miranda, Hector, Fergus Robb; Aunt, Kim (Henry) Heck, Cousins, Lara Rose, Corey Heck; Aunt, Cherie Parsons, Cousin, Francis Lee Parsons.

Deloria was born on February 12, 2003 in Wailuku.  She was a student at King Kamehameha III Elementary School in Lahaina.
