Sporting Celebrities Tee-Off in June Jones Golf Classic

The Seventh Annual June Jones Foundation Celebrity Golf Classic takes place on Maui this weekend at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua.  The event returns to The Plantation Course on Saturday and Sunday June 11 and 12, 2011 with proceeds to benefit the Dr. Kanalu Young Hawaiian Studies Scholarship.

The list of celebrities expected to attend include:

  • Former NFL QB’s: Doug Williams, Vince Ferragamo, Chris Miller, Neil Lomax, Jack Thompson and Steve Bartkowski,
  • NFL greats: Eric Dickerson, Jerry LeVias, Louie Kelcher, Junior Seau and Jesse Sapolu,
  • Former Head Football Coaches: Dick Tomey and Jim Zorn,
  • NBA Legend: Truck Robinson,
  • Stars of The Big Break Disney,
  • Young golf phenoms: Tony & Gipper Finau,
  • and… local favorites such as Henry Kapono, Colt Brennan, Timmy Chang and Nick Rolovich.

Each Foursome is paired with a celebrity.  Teams have the opportunity to win prizes for placing in the top three, having the longest drive, and getting the closest to the pin.

Saturday’s schedule includes practice rounds at the Kapalua Bay Course from 7 a.m. to noon; and a pairings party and auction at 5:30 p.m.  Then on Sunday, June 12, there’s a breakfast from 6 to 7 a.m.; the main event tees-off at 7:30 a.m.; and an awards party is set for 5:30 p.m.
