Get an education for your taste buds with Hawai’i’s first certified organic ranch.  William Jacintho of Beef and Blooms in Kula shares his knowledge of raising cattle and how best to prepare local, grass-fed beef products at an upcoming event taking place this month.

The session, entitled, “Where’s the beef?” runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 at the Maui Culinary Academy, located in the Pa’ina Building at UH Maui College.

The Taste Education Series is presented by Slow Food Maui, and is held on the last Wednesday of each month.

The Beef and Blooms ranch began four generations ago by Manual Jacintho who saved his earnings as a mason to buy property in Kula.  He started a part-time Black Angus ranch to supplement his income and feed his family.

The cattle on the Jacintho ranch thrived on the pasture grass that grew in abundance on the property’s naturally rich soil.  The animals were raised without the use of hormones, antibiotics, or artificial stimulants.

The tradition continues today with the family farm providing island residents with choice Certified Organic Beef.  Today, the Jacintho’s raise Angus, Brangus, and Wagyu varieties.
