Congresswoman Hirono Seeks “Wounded Warrior” to Join Her Staff

Wounded or disabled veterans having served on active duty since September 11, 2001 will  have an opportunity to work in Congresswoman Mazie K. Hirono’s Congressional office under a special fellowship program.

Hirono’s office has been selected to participate in the U.S. House of Representatives’ Wounded Warrior Fellowship Program, a two-year fellowship program that provides employment opportunities in a Congressional Office for wounded or disabled veterans.

“It is a privilege to have my office selected to participate in a program that provides this opportunity for our war heroes,” said Congresswoman Hirono. “I look forward to having someone who has given so much to our country join my team.” 

The position is for a caseworker to work in the Hawaii District Congressional Office to facilitate and coordinate responses to a wide range of requests received from constituents.  District caseworkers also help constituents interact with administrative and government agencies by acting as facilitators, ombudsmen and, in some cases, advocates. This position will serve as a resource on veterans’ issues and from time to time will act as a liaison between the office and veterans groups.

This program is limited to veterans who have served on active duty since September 11, 2001, have a minimum 30% service connected disability rating from the VA and less than 20 years of service.  Interested veterans may go to www.cao.house.gov to learn more about the program and may submit their resumes, a DD214 and a letter from the VA indicating that they have a 30% or greater rating to [email protected].
