Alaska Celebrates New Daily San Diego: Ticket Giveaway, Vacations

Alaska Airlines announced today it is expanding its service between San Diego and Hawaii with a daily nonstop flight to Honolulu and celebrated by giving away a planeload of free tickets.

The new service begins Nov. 17, 2011, and complements the airline’s existing daily nonstop flight between San Diego and Kahului, Maui, which started in October 2010.

To celebrate the new service, Alaska Airlines is partnering with San Diego radio stations to give away a plane’s worth of tickets to Honolulu at locations throughout the city this week. The “Nuts for Honolulu” events will invite listeners and community members to wear Hawaiian clothing at locations to be revealed by the radio stations for a chance to win 160 tickets and other prizes.

Details about each day’s contest are also available by using the Twitter hashtag #nuts4honolulu.

Customers can tune in to these radio stations for complete contest information:

• Tuesday, July 19: KHTS 93.3 FM (Channel 933)
• Wednesday, July 20: KIFM Smooth 98.1 FM
• Thursday, July 21: KMYI Star 94.1 FM
• Friday, July 22: KFMB Jack 100.7 FM

Alaska Airlines is also offering a special introductory fare of $149  each way for tickets purchased by July 25, 2011, for travel from Nov. 17 through Dec. 15, 2011. In addition, customers can bundle and save with an Alaska Airlines Vacation package to Honolulu, with roundtrip air fare and three nights’ hotel from $489 per person.

“We’re nuts about Hawaii and thrilled to be bringing our low fares and award-winning service to the San Diego-Honolulu market,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing, in a company statement yesterday. “We want to share this excitement with San Diegans and we think giving away a plane’s worth of seats to Hawaii is just the ticket.”
