It will cost Maui residents $210 for renewals and $250 for new customers to subscribe with Oceanic Time Warner Cable for the University of Hawaii sports pay-per-view package.

Those prices are exactly half of what is being charged to Oahu subscribers.

There was no increase in cost for a 17-game package that will feature football, men’s and women’s basketball.

The football lineup could include every game except the Colorado, San Jose State and Brigham Young contests, which are scheduled to be shown on ESPN.

The game at UNLV is still being negotiated, and – according to the Honolulu  Star-Advertiser — will be added to the season, road and sports packages as an uncharged bonus if it is picked up.

The price for individual games for Neighbor Island viewers will range from $12.50 to $32,50.

The partnership with Oceanic guarantees a minimum of $2.3 million for the university, with a chance for increased revenue based on sales.  It’s much-needed revenue for a cash-strapped athletic department at a time of ever-rising travel costs.

Last year, UH received $2.45 million from Oceanic based on 6,000 subscriptions.

Oceanic will offer webstreaming of televised football and basketball events at prices ranging from $6 to $12.
