Real property tax bills for property owners on Maui have been mailed for the first installment of the year.  Real property taxes are due on Monday, August 22, 2011 for the 2011-2012 fiscal year.

Property owners or agents servicing accounts, who have not received a bill should contact the County of Maui Real Property Tax Division by phone at (808) 270-7697, in person at the Maui Mall Service Center (M-F, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.), or online at www.mauipropertytax.com.

Electronic payment options are available via internet or phone (1-877-729-4775) through private vendor, Link2Gov.  There is a convenience fee charged for the electronic service, and internet users must have an email address to use the online payment service.

Failure to pay real property taxes on time will result in a 10 percent penalty assessed to bills, plus interest at a rate of 12 percent per year.  Those, who for some reason do not receive a tax bill, will not be excused from the late fees.  Payments should be received or postmarked by August 22, 2011.
