Governor Neil Abercrombie this afternoon is expected to announce the state’s Broadband Initiative.

The governor has identified affordable access to ultra high-speed broadband capabilities as a priority for Hawaiʻi residents.

According to the National Academy of Sciences, broadband capability can do as much to drive innovation, the economy, and job creation in the 21st century as the telephone, interstate highways, and air travel did in the 20th century.
