Recall of Mislabeled Ajinomoto Vegetable Gyoza Dumplings

A food recall is in effect for consumers in Hawai‘i who purchased packages of Ajinomoto Brand Vegetable Gyoza Dumplings.

Officials from the State Department of Health say certain packages of the Vegetable labeled gyoza may actually contain Seafood Dumplings made of fish and shrimp.

Individuals who consume the mislabeled product and are allergic or have a severe sensitivity to shellfish and fish may run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction.

Consumers who have purchased the 8.47 oz. trays of Ajinomoto Brand Vegetable Gyoza Dumplings with lot code 231751 printed on the side of the package are urged to return it to the place of purchase.

The product was produced by Ajinomoto Frozen Foods of Portland, Oregon, and was distributed between June 30,2011 and August 4, 2011 through retail stores and restaurants nationwide.

No illnesses related to the product have been reported to date in Hawai‘i.

Local distributors of the product are working with their clients to remove the remaining stock from store shelves.
