International Hula Competition: Ku Mai Ka Hula 2011

Grace, beauty and culture will be exemplified at this year’s International Hula Competition, Ku Mai Ka Hula, held at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center this Saturday September 10, at 1:00 p.m.

This 6th annual hula festival will include solo and group competitors from Japan and Hawai’i. Men and women will glide across the stage with enviable movements, gorgeous attire, and inherent pride in this deeply cultural and spiritual exhibition.

Participants will dance Kahiko (traditional) and ‘auana (modern) hula. Tickets are $25 per person and $12.50 for children aged 12 years and younger. Purchase tickets from the box office at the MACC, or call, 808-242-7469. Visit www.mauiarts.org, for more information and ticket purchase.

A pre-show dinner is available and will be catered by Alexander’s Famous Fish. The menu for the night will consist of, miso grilled ono, Kalbi ribs, seafood won ton, and tropical salad. Individuals can purchase any of the above entrees, appetizers and salad from 12:00 p.m.
