Waterline Project Scheduled for Lahaina
By Wendy Osher
Waterline tie-in work in West Maui will result in low to no water pressure for customers in selected areas later this week.
Contractors will tie in a new waterline for fire protection purposes at Kame’eu’i Place off of Lower Honoapiilani Road.
The work will begin at 9 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2011, and continue through 6 a.m. on Friday, October 28.
During this time, residents on Kame’eu’i Place and at Honokowai Plantation Inn will have no water. Customers will have very low water pressure at the following locations:
- Mahana at Kaanapali
- Papakea Resort
- Honokowai Villa
- Kaanapali Shores
- Maui Kai Condominium
- Honua Kai
- Honokowai Marketplace
- Maui Sands.
Lower Honoapiilani Road in this vicinity will be reduced to one lane only, with both lanes closed for short periods during the construction. Motorists are advised to drive with caution, follow traffic control, or to use another route.
Affected customers have been notified by the contractor and are advised to store water for the night if needed.
Customers should call the 24-hour service line (270-7633) only if a water problem occurs.
