Maui Honored With Distinguished Budget Presentation Award
By Wendy Osher
The County of Maui is being honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the fiscal year that began in July, 2011.
The national award, issued by the Government Finance Officers Association, recognizes governing bodies for high standards and principles in policy and budgeting.
Individuals recognized for their contributions were Mayor Alan M. Arakawa and Budget Director Sandy Baz.
In order to receive the budget award, the entity had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation, including how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, financial plan, and communication device.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit, professional association, and presents the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
