Waterline Project Impacts Happy Valley Traffic

Crews began work today to repair a leaking valve on a 24-inch main line in Happy Valley.

The work has reduced traffic to one-lane on North Market Street today and tomorrow.

Personnel from the Department of Water Supply will continue work until 1:30 p.m. today; then resume at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow, November 9, 2011, with anticipated completion by 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The affected  area extends along North Market Street from Liko Place to Kapoai Place near the Iao Stream bridge.

Motorists on North Market Street are advised to drive with caution and follow traffic control, or to use another route.

Jacky Takakura, Administrative Officer with the Maui Department of Water Supply said the project will not affect water service.

Customers should call the 24-hour service line (270-7633) only if a water problem occurs.
