Big Island Police are seeking the public’s help in locating a 41-year-old kayaker reported as possibly missing.

Lance Oliver of Kailua-Kona was last seen at Kahaluʻu Beach Park on November 22, 2011.

He was scheduled to travel north along the coast to the Mahukona Beach area in an inflatable boat or kayak.  His route was expected to continue south to the Puʻuhonua O Honaunau City of Refuge, according to Big Island police.

Although Oliver was not scheduled to return to Kahaluʻu Beach Park until around December 12, authorities say a missing persons report has been filed.

Oliver is described as 6’2″, approximately 200-pounds with a muscular build and short brown hair.

Police ask that anyone with information on his whereabouts call the Police Department’s non-emergency line at 935-3311.  Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 (Hilo) or 329-8181 (Kona).
