The Maui Policy Committee has extended the deadline until the end of the year for applicants wishing to apply for a position on the Lanai Community Plan Advisory Committee.

The deadline was extended because the Council’s Policy Committee did not receive a sufficient number of completed applications by the earlier Dec. 15 deadline.

Applications should be received or postmarked by 4:30 p.m. on the new December 31, 2011 deadline.

The Policy Committee will meet soon thereafter to consider appointments, according to Policy Committee Chair Riki Hokama.

By County ordinance, nine of the CPAC’s 13 members will be appointed by the Council, while four will be appointed by the Mayor.

To be eligible to serve on the Lanai CPAC, an applicant must be a resident of the Island of Lanai. Experience in land use planning is helpful, but not required.
