The American Advertising Federation District 13 has issued its Call-for-Entries for the 2011–2012 Pele Awards Competition.

Last year, four Maui companies brought home Pele Awards: Agape Design, SAE Design, Carbajal Design, and the Maui Time Weekly in the categories of Sales Promotion Campaigns, Outdoor Advertising, Special Judge’s recognition, and Package Design. The annual Pele Awards Competition recognizes exceptional advertising and design work created in the State of Hawaii. The Pele Awards honor advertising and design excellence in all media including print, online, broadcast, out-of-home and public service advertising.

A distinguished panel of advertising creative executives will gather in Honolulu the weekend of February 25, 2012 to select the winners from an anticipated 500 plus entries. To be eligible for consideration of a Pele, all work must have appeared in media between January 1, 2011, and December 31, 2012.

The Pele Awards Competition is sponsored by the American Advertising Federation – District 13 which represents the American Advertising Federation – Hawaii (AAF-Hawaii) and AD2 Honolulu. Proceeds from the Pele Awards help support the educational programs and public service projects.

The Pele Awards winners will be honored at the 2012 Pele Awards Party, scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2012 in the Monarch Room of the historic Royal Hawaiian Hotel.

All entries must be received by 5pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Electric Pencil, 501 Sumner Street. #3B1. Professional Entry fees are $85 per entry for members of AAF-Hawaii, AD2 Honolulu, AIGA-Honolulu and HAB, and $100 per entry for non-members. Student Entries are $20 per entry. The Final Entry deadline is Friday, February 3, 2012 (please add additional $10 to each entry).

All Pele Award Winners will automatically be forwarded to the American Advertising Federation’s 2012 National ADDY Competition, the world’s largest advertising competition. The National Finals ADDY Judging is scheduled for early May 2012 in Washington, D.C.
