Kahului Armed Robbery Among 14 Vehicle Thefts – Dec. 25 to 31, 2011

There were 14 vehicle thefts on Maui in the seven day period between December 25 and 31, 2011.

The list includes an armed firearm robbery of a vehicle in Kahului the day after Christmas.  The incident was reported at 9:40 p.m. on Kuhuoi Street and involved the theft of a 2004 Silver Toyota Tacoma.  The vehicle has since been recovered.

There were a total of four vehicle thefts in Kahului; three thefts each in Lahaina and Kihei; and one incident each in Haiku, Napili, Wailea, and Wailuku.

Six of the stolen vehicles have since been recovered.

The types of vehicles taken include: 2 Toyota Hilux, 2 Toyota Corolla, and a variety of other vehicles.

• Tuesday, 12/27/11, 7:30 p.m.:  South Kihei Road at Leilani Road.  2001 White Dodge two-door station wagon.  RECOVERED.

Lahaina:

• Wednesday, 12/28/11, 7 p.m.:  Front Street near Prison Street.  1990 Silver Nissan Sentra.  RECOVERED.

Napili:
