Though surfers of all ages convened for a worthy session at Tavares Beach in Kuau on Wednesday afternoon, the majority were groms (some under ten-years-old), spotted ripping waves alongside local pro-surfers like Matt Meola.

Around 3 p.m. the swells in Kuau were inconsistent but nicely formed, at a decent height, and inviting to young surfers just getting out of school or  water-addicted local surfers going in for their third round of the day.

Close to 4 p.m. sets rose higher and even more young surfers came to benefit from the low wind and fun waves at Tavares.

King Kekaulike High School students Brycen Ness, Tosh Peila, Grant Baker, and Kain Daly arrived to work on a school surf project.

Ness was snapping photos of his three classmates as they surfed and he admitted that the project was a welcomed privilege compared to usual school assignments.

Matt Meola also was seen with his videographer, Dan Norkunas, and a photographer, getting footage  to be used for upcoming surf web edits which will also feature  local surfer Albee Layer.
