An 18-year-old man was transported to the hospital after being pulled from waters in West Maui by a passing catamaran on Tuesday afternoon (March 27, 2012).
The incident was reported at 2:24 p.m. about a mile off of Hanakao’o Beach in Lahaina.
Authorities say the man was barely able to swim and incoherent when he was pulled aboard the passing Teralani vessel.
He remained on the boat until Ocean Safety lifeguards on Jet Skis, picked him up and brought him to shore where fire personnel carried the man to an ambulance, according to officials.
The man was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
