Mother-Daughter Team Celebrates Skin Line’s 10th Anniversary

Susan Hoover and her daughter Meghan Franks are the mother-daughter team behind Paradise Skin Products, a Maui-based skin care line, which is celebrating its 10 year anniversary this month.

A decade ago, Susan Hoover and her daughter Meghan Franks, saw the need to create a skin care product line that would extract impurities on the molecular level.

“This innovative extraction process, known as Chiral Correct, increases product purity, concentration, and effectiveness, which in turns allows our products to be toxin-free,” said Susan Hoover, owner of Paradise Skin Products, and a registered nurse with a specialization in skin care. “If a product is not Chiral, then they contain impurities.”

In January 2002, Susan began working with chemists to develop a line of products using this technology and applying it to skin care. Immediately results showed that products could use higher percentages of ingredients without the irritation.

For example, someone who gets irritated from a 5% Vitamin C will most likely not have issues with Paradise Skin Product’s 20% Vitamin C product.  “This allows customers to receive optimal benefits of vitamins and peptides without negative side effects,” Hoover said.

Through years of development, Paradise Skin Products has created a skin care line that includes highly sought after ingredients such as peptides, DMAE, and Hyaluronic Acid while including time tested ingredients such as green tea, witch hazel, and chocolate.

This natural skin care line is regularly called “Purer than Organic” by its customers and is environmentally friendly by not overharvesting ingredients that are in low supply.

Paradise Skin Product’s started out with one product, the Cherry Hydrator and has developed over 60 different SKUs.  They have won the coveted prize of “Cleanser of the Year” by DaySpa Magazine for their Herbal Wash, a “Must Have” title for their Sugar N Spice Toner and have been featured on Yahoo for their renowned pH balanced cleansers. Their products can be found in spas in Hawaii and across the nation. Private aestheticians are also customers.

On Maui, their products can be found at Wailea Health and Wellness, Salon Juliette, and Hotel Wailea.

“Our niche market is servicing the small spas. Most skin care lines have large minimums, which are nearly impossible for small spas to carry.  Our line prides on top-of-the-line products and on having no minimums, which makes our product easily accessible to smaller companies,” said Hoover.
