Three TJ Maxx Stores to Open on Oahu
By Sonia Isotov
TJMaxx, one of the nation’s largest off-price retailers, is opening a store on May 3 at Ward Centers followed in quick succession by stores at Pearl City Gateway and Pearlridge Center Uptown.
TJMaxx is famous for making designer merchandise available at discounted prices– from fashion and accessories to home, jewelry, beauty, pet, toys and more.
The three new stores will employ approximately 325 employees.
“With thousands of new items from top designers and brands arriving in each store every week from around the world, shoppers will discover a completely new store full of amazing values every time they visit.” stated Richard Sherr, the president of TJMaxx, in a written statement.
The new 35,000 square foot T.J.Maxx store will hold a grand opening celebration May 3 at Ward Centers from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. A traditional blessing ceremony will commence at 7:00 a.m., followed by a check presentation to local charities and customer giveaways.
The grand opening of the 25,000 square foot T.J.Maxx store at Pearl City Gateway follows May 10 and the 24,850 square foot store at Pearlridge Center Uptown celebrates its opening May 17.
Special edition, Hawaii-themed reusable bags will be given to the first 1,000 customers at each opening.
In celebration of its arrival in the community and desire to be a good neighbor, each T.J.Maxx store will make a $5,000 donation to local charities. The checks will be presented as part of a 7 a.m. ceremony that will be held on the day each store opens.
Recipients are as follows: The Institute for Human Service, Inc. and Parents and Children Together at Ward Centers; Hawaii Literacy at Pearl City Gateway; and Domestic Violence Action Center at Pearlridge Center Uptown.
The new stores will also join all other stores nationwide in sponsoring a child who participates in Save The Children’s US Programs. T.J.Maxx has been a proud supporter of Save The Children’s US Programs for 28 years. T.J.Maxx also supports Autism Speaks and Joslin Diabetes Center with annual in-store fundraising campaigns.
