Across from Kalama Park, the King’s BBQ & Chinese Restaurant has opened up in the old Wok Star location next to Life’s A Beach bar. Also, in the last couple months, a new Maui Tacos opened on the same block at the old Alexander’s Fish & Chip location.
First Hawaiian Bank completed a loan facility that will be used by Hawaiian Airlines to finance the company’s latest aircraft purchase.
The Four Seasons Resort Maui received the Pacific Biodiesel-sponsored “Excellence in Sustainability” award at the Aipono Awards, an annual event that recognizes the best of the island’s restaurants, hotels and resorts and benefits the Maui Culintary Academy.
A&B Foundation recently presented a $15,000 grant award to the Hawaii Meth Project in conjunction with a Meth Awareness Day event held recently at Baldwin High School.

American Savings Bank announced the appointment of Heather Schwarm to executive vice president and chief financial officer. She replaces Alvin Sakamoto, who retired April 30, 2012, as CFO after 26 years with the bank.
Just Wing It opened in Piilani Village Shopping Center recently. Michael Capuano, who also used to own the Maui Wowee Kava Bar, has started this new franchise. He intends to have more outlets on Maui and then spread to the neighbor islands.
