Kapalua Tennis Garden and Wailea Tennis Club rank in the top 100 tennis resorts in the world for 2012, according to a worldwide survey conducted by Tennis Resorts Online.
Survey results were broken down into three categories; the Top 25 or Gold Medal Resorts, in which Kapalua Tennis Garden was ranked #18, followed by Silver and Bronze Medal categories, in which Wailea Tennis Club received a Bronze.
Two other Hawaii resorts ranked in the top 100: the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel ranked at #6 in the Top 25 Resort Gold Medal category and the Fairmont Orchid received a Bronze medal.
“This is the second time we’ve seen rankings of our tennis facilities in surveys, the first was in Destination Tennis–The Top 50 American Resorts, where our state captured the “Top 5” spots with Wailea Tennis Club as #1, The Fairmont Orchid as #2, The Four Seasons Resort Hualalai as #3, The Makena Beach Resort as #4 and the Kapalua Tennis Garden as #5,” said Chris Scharein, president of the Maui District Tennis Association.
“It’s great to see such wonderful coverage and it means that our facilities are providing players with great tennis experiences. Regardless of the numbers we have some of the best facilities in the world for tennis players.”
“To be selected by Tennis Magazine as one of the top 50 resort facilities in the nation and also to be selected by them as the number one tennis facility in Hawaii is an amazing honor. Over a million people either read Tennis Magazine or read it’s on line version,” said Cathy Nicoloff, the director of tennis at the Wailea Tennis Club.
“Then, on top of that to have Tennis Resorts Online place us in the top 75, again, is fantastic. We have been ranked in the top 50 and top 75 for several years.”
