Kahakuloa Coast Half-Marathon and Relay, June 2

The first Kahakuloa Coast Half-Marathon and Relay is slated for Saturday, June 2, beginning at 6:30 a.m.
The 13.1 mile trek starts at D.T. Fleming Beach Park in Kapalua and ends at Kahakuloa Village. The race is being billed as “13.1 Miles of Majestic Maui Coastline.”
Individuals or two-man teams are eligible for this challenging race, featuring rare views of the steep north shore cliffs on the backside of the Valley Isle. Proceeds from the run benefit the Servants of Keakua Mahalo Nui, a non-profit organization restoring the historic and beautiful Kahakuloa Hawaiian Congregational Church.
For the relay teams, the first leg will run from D.T. Fleming Beach onto Honoapiilani Highway for 6.5 miles. Second-leg runners will be shuttled by bus, following the start, and dropped off at the relay exchange spot. They will take runners from Kahekili Highway into Kahakuloa town, where first-leg runners will be shuttled to the finish.
Participants will enjoy breakfast on the church grounds between 8 and 10 a.m. Grammy Award winning musician and Kahakuloa resident, Richard Ho’opi’i, will provide slack key guitar music from 9 to 10 a.m.
Age group awards for individual men and women will be issued in the following categories: 17 and under, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50- 59, 60+. Winning relay teams in Mens, Womens, and Mixed categories will also receive awards, and medals will be presented to all finishers.
A shuttle bus back to D.T. Fleming Beach Park will leave Kahakuloa at 11 a.m.
Pre-registration postmarked by MAY 27: $60 for individuals, $45 per person for the relay. Late registration and packet pickup will be held on Friday, June 1, at Cary and Eddie’s Hideaway in Kahului, from 6 to 8 p.m. Late registration fees are $65 for individuals, $50 per person for the relay.
