Firefighters were dispatched today to an early morning fire at a small wooden building on the grounds of Hotel Molokai.
When crews arrived on scene, they found the bottom floor of a 75- by 50-foot two-story structure about 75% engulfed, fire officials said.
The structure, authorities said, housed the hotel kitchen, laundry, and storage.
The incident was reported at 3:22 a.m. and the fire was called under control at 5:40 a.m.
Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga said major damage was reported to the entire structure.
Among the crews that responded to the scene were firefighters from Engine 4, Engine 9 and Engine 12.
No injuries reported and the cause is undetermined pending further investigation.
