Paddleboarder Rescued at Ukumehame, Maui

An 18-year old Hilo woman was airlifted to safety on Thursday after she got swept out in the ocean in windy conditions while paddle boarding.

Another paddler, a 22 year old man from Wailuku, declined to be airlifted or towed-in, and ended up paddling in on his own.

The incident was reported at around 2:30 p.m. on Thusday in waters off of Ukumehame Beach in West Maui.

Both parties were reported in good condition and did not require medical attention.
